Construction of the UGCC

The construction of the Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex (UGCC) was completed in September of 2015, within 3 years and 3 month earlier than scheduled date.

The complex consists of 5 main plants:

  • Gas separation plant;
  • Ethylene production plant;
  • Polyethylene production plant;
  • Polypropylene production plant;
  • Energy supply plant.

The active phase of construction began from the middle of 2013. During the construction, there were used the latest achievements in the field of construction of similar production facilities. At the peak of construction, 15 thousand of personnel of general constructors and more than 600 units of special equipment were attracted on daily basis. The progress of the construction works was observed by the experienced staff of NHC "Uzbekneftegaz", JV "Uz-Kor Gas Chemical" and international consultant company.

The founders of JV «Uz-Kor Gas Chemical»

NHC «UZBEKNEFTEGAS» with share holding - 50%, Kor-Uz Gas Chemical Investment Ltd. with share holding - 50% created by a number of Korean companies (hereinafter «Korean consortium» or «Kor-Uz»). The Korean consortium includes: Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS), Lotte Chemical Corporation, GS E&R.

The basis for project design

On 29 of March of 2006, memorandum on the comprehensive development of Surgil field between the National Holding Company "Uzbekneftegaz" and the Korea Gas Corporation ( «Korea Gas Corporation») was signed during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to South Korea

On 25 of 2008 in Seoul (Korea), the foundation agreement and charter of JV «Uz-Kor Gas Chemical» was signed between NHC «Uzbekneftegas» (50%) and consortium of Korean companies «Kor-Uz Gas Chemical Investment Ltd.» (50%) At present, the participants of the «Uz-Kor Gas Chemical» are NHC «Uzbekneftegas» and Korean companies «LOTTE Chemical Corporation», «Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS)» and «GS E&R»

The project implementation started in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated as of 18th February of 2008 «on organization of works on complex development of the Surgil field». 

There was signed memorandum of understanding on cooperation in financing of this project during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan in May of 2009.

For the realization of this major investment project implemented with the initiatives of head of our state, there was signed 7 Decrees of the President and several resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan until today, which provided significant advantages and preferences during the construction and commissioning works, which is a bright example of rendered full state support and contribution to the foreign investment. On the 23rd of August in 2011, there was signed "turnkey contract" for construction of the technological area of Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex with «Samsung Engineering Co. Ltd.», «GS Engineering & Construction Corp.» and «Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd.», and turnkey contract for construction of the external infrastructure facilities and Surgil field development with NHC «Uzbekneftegas».


Total production capacity of the complex is 387 thousand tons of polyethylene

At the moment, polymer plat produces such brands of polyethylene as FL7000, M8000, MF5000, BL5200, BL6200, J2200, J2210
